STOP CREDITING THE DEVIL- James 4:6-8, 1 Chronicles 29:11-12

STOP CREDITING THE DEVIL

Texts: James 4:6-8, 1 Chronicles 29:11-12

Introduction

Many people give the devil too much attention, too much fear, and too much credit. Every challenge, delay, mistake, or battle is quickly blamed on the devil. But the truth is this: the devil is not equal to God, and he is not in control of your life. God alone is sovereign, all-powerful, and worthy of all glory.

When we keep crediting the devil for everything, we magnify his influence and minimize God’s power. Today, God is calling us to shift our focus from the enemy to the Almighty.

1. God Alone Has All Power

1 Chronicles 29:11-12 says:
“Yours, O Lord, is the greatness, the power, the glory, the victory, and the majesty…”

This passage reminds us that power belongs to God—not the devil. Riches come from God. Promotion comes from God. Victory comes from God. Strength comes from God.

The devil cannot bless you. He cannot stop what God has ordained for you. He only works through fear, deception, and disobedience. When God says yes, no devil can say no.

Motivation:

Stop talking about how big your problem is. Start talking about how big your God is.

2. Submit to God and Resist the Devil

James 4:6-8 says:
“Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”

Notice the Bible does not say, “Fear the devil.” It says, resist him. The devil runs when a believer stands in faith and authority.

Many believers spend more time discussing satanic attacks than practicing godly obedience. But your greatest weapon is not panic—it is submission to God.

How to Resist the Devil:

  • Live in obedience to God
  • Pray without ceasing
  • Stand on God’s Word
  • Reject fear and doubt
  • Walk in holiness
  • Praise God in every season

3. Some Battles Are Not the Devil—They Are Life Lessons

Sometimes what people call “devil attack” is actually:

  • Poor decisions
  • Lack of discipline
  • Disobedience
  • Wrong relationships
  • Laziness
  • Lack of prayer
  • God training you for growth

Not every storm is from satan. Some storms are classrooms where God teaches faith, patience, and wisdom.

Motivation:

Instead of asking, “Why is the devil fighting me?” ask, “Lord, what are You teaching me?”

4. Give God the Glory, Not the Devil the Spotlight

The enemy wants attention, but God deserves worship. The more you focus on darkness, the more discouraged you become. The more you focus on God, the more faith rises in your heart.

David understood this. He declared that greatness, victory, and honor belong to God. That means your testimony belongs to God too.

Declare This:

  • God is greater than every battle in my life.
  • I will not fear the devil.
  • I submit to God and the enemy flees from me.
  • My victory is in Christ Jesus.
  • I give God all the glory!

Conclusion

Stop crediting the devil for what only God controls. Stop magnifying the enemy and start magnifying the Lord. The devil may roar, but he is defeated. God reigns forever.

Lift your eyes above the battle. Your help, your strength, and your victory come from the Lord.

Final Charge:

Talk less about the devil and more about Jesus. Fear less, pray more. Complain less, praise more. And watch God turn every battle into a testimony.
